Biography:

Through an engagement with creative literature (kavya) of early South Asia and their commentaries I aim to evaluate the space occupied by literature as tools of sociability and shaping of emotional norms in the first millennium CE. I am interested in looking at the ways in which literary conventions influence the construction of emotional norms in the first millennium, thereby exploring the historical developments linked to the emergence of behavioral standards pertaining to emotions beyond the confines of the court and the city.
