Dr. Lavanya Collooru teaches Telugu at the University of Chicago. Prior to her appointment in SALC, she was a Language Instructor and the Telugu Language Program Head at the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India as well as a visiting Telugu Lecturer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel. She also has several years’ experience in journalistic endeavors as the Creative Head for Radio Mirchi FM Radio and as the Editor of the monthly bulletin “Vasavi Seva Tharangini,” among other posts. Her field specialty is in Telugu language journalistic writings, and she has contributed several articles and editorials to various publications in India.
